Charlotte Guernsey, owner of Lambs Hill, tells her story of creating her Equestrian Bridal Collection.
For those of us who love horses, there is a natural desire to bring a piece of that world into our daily lives—especially on a day we’ve dreamed about for years: our wedding day. As a horse-girl bride myself, I wanted a classic, beautiful wedding with subtle equestrian touches.

With a background in fine arts as a trained oil painter and lifelong DIYer, I designed my equestrian-inspired wedding with details like snaffle bits, Ralph Lauren equestrian fabric table runners, a wedding cake wrapped in marzipan horse tack, and our miniature donkeys serving as ring bearers with custom saddles. What I couldn’t find, however, was a bridal accessory that reflected the soft, romantic, slightly vintage aesthetic I envisioned while honoring my love of horses.

Seventeen years later, I am not only an artist but also a horse owner, wedding venue owner, and bridal boutique owner. From that intersection of art, horses, and weddings came the natural step into bridal design.
I create for brides like me—creative, artistic, and deeply connected to animals, especially horses. My equestrian-inspired veils and skirts allow brides to incorporate that part of their lives into their wedding look with subtlety and elegance.

Each design begins with gathering flowers and foliage—sage, ivy, goldenrod, thistle, daisies, bluebonnets, and wheat—to serve as both visual and symbolic inspiration. In my studio, surrounded by bins of horse tack, I build compositions by arranging reins, bits, and botanicals on the wall. The strength of leather and metal is softened by the organic movement of foliage and flowers.
Once the composition is set, I begin sketching in charcoal to capture movement and tone. The charcoal study becomes a refined line drawing that retains the character of the original strokes. That drawing is then translated into thread on tulle, forming the embroidered foundation of each piece.

The final result is a delicately romantic equestrian bridal accessory—crafted for the horse-girl bride and layered with story.
